Embryo Group Expands with Strategic Acquisition

Manchester’s digital marketing scene saw a notable development this week as Embryo announced the acquisition of fellow Manchester-based agency, Making You Content (MYC). The deal marks the formation of the Embryo Group, which will operate from Embryo’s existing headquarters.

Embryo, a leading independent digital marketing agency, is known for its holistic approach—combining curiosity, creativity, and technology to deliver growth for its clients. The agency leverages proprietary tools and deep industry insight to uncover opportunities that others may overlook, specialising in Organic (SEO, content, digital PR), Paid (PPC, affiliate marketing, paid social), and Creative (design and development) services.

The acquisition of MYC, a well-established content agency, aligns with Embryo’s vision to strengthen its offering and expand both its team and capabilities. Leadership from both companies have framed the move as a strategic step toward delivering broader, more integrated marketing solutions under the new Embryo Group umbrella.

Ross Green, CEO of Embryo Group, commented on the synergy between the two firms, while MYC director Kelly Gilmour-Grassam described it as a milestone moment, adding that she looks forward to contributing to the group’s continued evolution.

Retail AI Specialist HyperFinity Secures Backing to Fuel Next Phase of Growth

Leeds-based data analytics and AI specialist HyperFinity has secured a significant seven-figure investment round to support its continued expansion in the retail sector. The round includes backing from Finance Yorkshire and co-investor River Capital, with additional support from existing investor Snowflake, a global leader in data and AI technology.

Founded in 2019 by Pete Denby, Adam Barrowcliff, Damon Bryan, and Tom Hill, HyperFinity helps retailers leverage data and AI to make smarter pricing and loyalty decisions. Its growing client base includes household names such as Asda, Costa Coffee, Card Factory, and Toolstation.

Speaking on the announcement, co-founder Pete Denby said the new capital will allow HyperFinity to strengthen its sales and marketing efforts while continuing to invest in its product offering. “We’re already partnering with some of the UK’s most recognisable retailers, and this investment allows us to scale our impact even further,” he added.

Finance Yorkshire’s CEO Alex McWhirter described HyperFinity as a standout player in decision intelligence for retail, saying the fund is pleased to support the team’s vision for driving transformative growth through data and AI.

David Walters, Investment Director at River Capital, echoed the sentiment: “HyperFinity has developed a compelling proposition at the intersection of AI and retail. We’re excited to support the next stage of their journey.”

With industry demand for intelligent, data-driven decision-making on the rise, HyperFinity’s momentum positions it as one to watch in the retail tech space.

Classic Logic Simulator Logisim Now Available in the Browser

A browser-based version of Logisim, the popular digital logic simulator used in classrooms and hobbyist projects around the world, has officially launched. Called Logisim.app, the tool requires no installation, no downloads, and runs entirely in the browser — including on Chromebooks, tablets, and even mobile devices.

Developed by UK-based software company and DRS Software, Logisim.app is a direct port of the original desktop version (v2.7.2) created by Carl Burch. The app runs client-side using WebAssembly, meaning no data is stored or sent to external servers, and users retain full privacy.

Specialising in high-performance web applications, data analytics, and application modernisation, DRS has been active since 2015, working with major organisations like Siemens, Shell, and Harvard University.

Founded by Stefano De Rossi with Martin Nyaga as Lead Software Developer , DRS has built a strong reputation in areas such as WebAssembly and cutting-edge web technologies, delivering solutions for complex application development and modernisation challenges. DRS’s R&D efforts have earned them multiple prestigious grants, including the Innovate UK SMART Grant, reflecting their ongoing commitment to advancing web technology.

Key features:

  • No setup or installation required
  • Works on any device or operating system
  • Fully open-source and free to use
  • No Java runtime or permissions needed

Logisim has been widely used for over two decades to teach the fundamentals of digital logic and computer architecture. Its drag-and-drop interface allows users to build and simulate everything from simple gates to full CPUs. However, due to its dependence on Java, running the tool on modern devices has become increasingly difficult — particularly in educational settings.

Logisim.app aims to solve that. By using CheerpJ — a Java-to-WebAssembly compiler — the original Java application can now run directly in the browser with full feature parity. A custom JavaScript layer enables file handling using browser APIs.

The project is especially geared toward students, educators, and electronics hobbyists. It is already proving useful in environments where software installation is restricted or local IT permissions are limited.

DRS Software also confirmed plans to bring Logisim Evolution, a more modern community-maintained fork, to the web in the future. However, this presents additional challenges due to its reliance on newer versions of Java.

For now, the team says it will continue supporting the current version and encourages feedback from users — particularly educators who may wish to integrate it into their teaching.

The codebase is open-source, and support inquiries can be sent to info@logisim.app.

Cybersecurity distributor Distology has announced a new partnership with OT security specialist and Ilan Barda led Radiflow, marking the latest addition to its growing operational technology (OT) portfolio. The move reflects Distology’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its offering for critical sectors such as manufacturing, utilities, and transportation — areas facing increasing security pressures in complex digital environments.

This partnership strengthens our OT offering, allowing us to deliver even greater value and security to our partners in an increasingly complex landscape. As the need for trusted OT security solutions has never been greater, we are thrilled to partner with Radiflow to bring these innovative tools to the IT and OT reseller channel.”

The announcement follows a visit from Radiflow representatives Daniela Shimoni and James Sandrone, who shared their excitement about the collaboration and the opportunities it presents across the EMEA region.
