Contract Programme Director (Ecommerce)
£1,000 per day (Inside IR35) | 3 days per week in London | Jan–Aug project | 8-month contract | Reporting to COO | Start ASAP
We are supporting a large, consumer-facing ecommerce juggernaut entering a major operational change programme running January through to August.
Several critical delivery and customer experience initiatives are already underway, and the business needs a senior interim leader who can step in quickly, take control of complex moving parts, and keep delivery on track without disruption to customers or revenue.

The brief
You will take ownership of multiple, parallel programmes focused on delivery operations, service models and customer journeys, working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
This will include:
- Leading large-scale changes across delivery and fulfilment operations
- Managing transitions between external partners and service providers
- Reducing delivery-related customer contacts and friction points
- Overseeing required changes to digital journeys linked to delivery and pricing
- Owning performance tracking, cost impact and Exec-level reporting
- Alongside delivery, you will also be expected to strengthen internal leadership capability, so teams are better set up once the programme concludes.
What success looks like
By the end of the contract, the business will have:
- Stabilised delivery performance through periods of operational change
- Improved customer experience metrics linked to fulfilment
- Implemented new service models and digital flows without revenue impact
- Clear medium-term operational roadmaps agreed and underway
- Stronger in-house ownership of delivery operations
Who they are looking for:
- Senior operations, logistics or programme leaders from ecommerce or high-volume consumer environments
- Proven experience leading complex transitions involving multiple external partners
- Strong cross-functional leadership across Product, Tech, Ops, Finance and Customer teams
- Commercially aware, comfortable balancing cost, risk and customer outcomes
- Confident operating at Exec level and influencing senior stakeholders
- Able to move fast, make decisions and create clarity in ambiguous situations
